Yeah, the main reason why I hung around in Lion's Arch alot was

1. It was where you started in the BWEs.
2. When I started my character, I hated Ascalon, so return to the lush green landscapes and blue waters of Kryta made me happy! I would spend time just dancing there and talking, it was fun.

Why was LA the trade hub before Factions? The simple answer is that it wasn't. Droks was far more important trade wise (even more important than LA now is) because it was where people who might actually have the gold to pay for items tended to be.

I've always wondered. I think:

-As suggested by Wintersday '05, Ascalon, Drok's, and LA are the main Tyrian cities. Ascalon is all icky and full of noobs, Drok's is a bit too far if you want to just go and merchant, LA is in the middle. Plus, it was an olde town around from the beta days. Now that it is where you continent travel to automatically, its usage as a hub is doubled!
